To be the dwelling place of God is our highest calling. For us to stay on point, our main focus must not be on who we are called to be but on who He is and how we conform to His image. We are changed by beholding His glory, not our own. We need to know our calling and be devoted to it, but our main devotion must be to seeing and following Him. Only in this way can we attain to what we are called to be.

       Preaching the gospel of the kingdom is one of our main purposes as we come to the end of this age. To preach the gospel of the kingdom is to present the coming King. The glorious temple of the Lord will be a result of preaching the gospel of the kingdom, not the gospel of His temple, the church. The church, as it is called to be, is the most wonderful and powerful entity on the planet, second only to the Holy Spirit. The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing, and the Lord Himself is—and will always be—the main thing. For all the wonders that God is doing, it is God to whom we must give our devotion and attention.

       Another factor that will be a great sign and wonder in the coming move of God is how the elderly will be such a part of it. Consider how Abraham, “the father of faith,” was too old when he was called to fulfill his purpose, then he had to wait many years for it to begin. He had to wait until there was no doubt in his mind—or anyone else’s—that only God could cause him to fulfill what God had promised him.

       The faith sojourn began with a senior, and it’s going to end with a great generation of seniors. They and everyone else will know that it could only have been by the Lord that they were able to do the mighty things they will do. Do not ever count yourself out because of your age, whether too young or too old. It’s not about us; it’s about Him and what He can do through anyone He chooses.

       Abraham had aged far beyond the time when he could have the promised son without the Lord. His faith in himself grew weaker, but his faith in the Lord grew stronger. This is something we should all know at any age, but with the elderly, it is by the grace of God that we must know it.

       When I was younger, I thought that I could do anything, and that was the problem. It was about me. Now, it takes faith in God to do just about anything. I am now thankful for this discipline. Because of it, I was given the grace to see how often my impatience and self-will had caused me to miss seeing many miracles and miss divine connections that would have resulted in great things. The slower pace at which I now have to move has enabled me to see Him and His purposes in ways I would have missed before.

       I believe in the teachings that the Lord can quicken our mortal bodies so we can be like Moses and Caleb. I’ve experienced that miracle briefly, and I’m seeking to walk in this permanently, but until that miracle happens, I’m regularly faced with increased limitations. I embrace the limitations. By doing this and being forced to go slower, I see Him more clearly in my life. By seeing Him more clearly, I become sensitive enough to His leading that I don’t miss His purposes as much.

       I’ve also been shown some of the miracles the Lord is about to pour out through His people. Some will eclipse the greatest miracles ever seen in the Old or New Testaments. He said that we could by faith tell a mountain to be cast into the sea, and it will be done. He said this had to be done to prove that His word is true. I know His word is true, but still look forward to seeing these great signs and wonders.

       Even such remarkable works as these are not that impressive to God and the angels. When the Lord parted the Red Sea, the angels had seen Him do much greater things in creation. However, to those on the earth who trembled at these displays of His power, their lives were changed. We will soon see the world trembling at the power of God in which His people walk, and many will bow the knee to Him.

       It will become a major emphasis for God’s people to be prepared for these great times and to expect to be used by the Lord to do these works. A main way that we must prepare is to grow in our faith at every opportunity we’re given. We must recognize obstacles and challenges we face, especially the ones beyond our ability to overcome, as opportunities to see Him. Nothing is impossible for Him or those who are abiding in Him.
