Since I first spoke about the 40 Prophecies, we have seen global events further align with what the Lord shared with me. I want to revisit a couple prophecies about China, as current events indicate we are getting closer to them being fulfilled.

I previously shared this prophetic word: “China will continue down the road of internal revolution which I first prophesied on October 1, 2022. It will lead to the end of Xi Jinping’s rule. Then, I saw perhaps in five to ten years, China will devolve into region states or sections, and democracy and a whole new way of life will come to China. When Xi Jinping’s power comes to an end, know that judgment has come to the Chinese Communist Party and its power hold on China will finally be broken.”

This has been partially fulfilled, as many Chinese people have begun publicly expressing their dissatisfaction with the status quo.

In November 2022, Chinese protesters launched the “white paper” movement to protest China’s COVID-19 restrictions. They held pieces of blank, white paper to represent what they wanted to say but couldn’t over fears of censorship and retaliation. The protests followed a tragedy in which people were trapped under COVID lockdowns and unable to escape their apartment building during a fire (Amnesty International).

Despite high-tech surveillance that could reveal their identities, protesters have clamored to oust President Xi. They do this even though there were many reports of arrests following the initial “white paper” protest (Wong).

Many in China are also unhappy with the country’s real estate crisis. After a government crackdown on developer borrowing, investment in real estate dropped, with forecasts of a 1.5% annual decline until 2026 (He). This is increasingly hurting middle-class families in a country where 70% of household wealth is invested in real estate (Bloomberg).

Despite China’s economic collapse, Xi maintains his grip on power and remains focused on Taiwan, which is regarded as a coveted prize due to its advanced chip manufacturing capabilities.

China also remains a place where people cannot freely worship as Christians. More than 10,000 churches were closed in 2023 alone. There is increasing surveillance on the churches that remain, and the government continues to enforce its ban on children and youth under 18 attending religious services of any kind (Lee).

In the Bible, we see a precedent for God removing oppressive leaders from power. In Daniel 2, the Lord is revealed as One who is sovereign over the kingdoms of this earth. The rule of unjust, oppressive governments has an expiration date. Daniel writes, He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings(see Daniel 2:21). Amidst the rise and fall of all earthly kingdoms, there is only one kingdom destined to last forever—God’s kingdom.

I also shared this word: “There is coming a naval conflict in the South China Sea, which will cause the world markets to plummet. China will be involved and might claim it was an accident. The U.S. will be affected by this and will be in the middle of this growing China-Taiwan conflict.”

Recent events have shown this is possible. China claims Taiwan as part of its territory, and while the U.S. recognizes the “One China” policy, it opposes any attempt to change Taiwan’s status by force (Richard).

China has escalated tensions with Taiwan by deploying nearly two dozen warplanes and warships near Taiwan’s territory. In one week, China flew over 150 warplanes toward Taiwan (Hagstrom).

During diplomatic meetings last year, China also told the U.S., “It is necessary to make a choice between dialogue and confrontation, cooperation or conflict.” China’s foreign officials have said that the communist regime will not compromise or concede regarding Taiwan (Kent).

China has persistently provoked Taiwan while asserting its territorial claim over the island. Nevertheless, a unique and unprecedented naval conflict in the South China Sea has yet to unfold. Given President Joe Biden’s weakness in foreign policy at the time of writing, it is likely this conflict will unfold in the very near future.

Since Taiwan is an island, I want to highlight key promises in Scripture for “the islands of the sea” for declaration over Taiwan. “It shall come to pass in that day that the Lord shall set His hand again the second time to recover the remnant of His people who are left, from Assyria and Egypt, from Pathros and Cush, from Elam and Shinar, from Hamath and the islands of the sea” (Isaiah 11:11). Ask the Lord to draw Taiwan back to Himself. Ask the Lord to release His healing power on the believers in Taiwan so that the gospel will spread through the whole region in the decades to come.
