One of the American Founding Fathers said, “The government that is big enough to give you everything is also big enough to take everything from you.” From the beginning, governments were formed to control the people and use them for the purposes of the elite. They would often claim that what they did was for the sake of the people, but you must be extremely naïve not to see through that guise.

       When we have more faith in people than in God, we tend to get our security or confidence by how many people share our views. Jesus had a different perspective, saying in Luke 6:26:

“Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers used to treat the false prophets in the same way.”

         Even with the great increase of knowledge the world is now experiencing, there is not much understanding. Understanding means to “stand under” someone else’s situation, to put ourselves in their place. This comes mostly from learning to become a good listener, which is also very rare. Yet if we are going to fulfill The Great Commission to make disciples, we must be able to reach people where they are. We can’t teach first graders geometry, and we will lose senior citizens if we try to teach geometry to them. Therefore, to make disciples, or students, we must be discerning...

         The whole world is dealing with ultimate issues now. This is “The Valley of Decision” that was prophesied. The foundations of civilization are being shaken. At the same time that human governments are failing, the kingdom of God is growing. We are in the times when Daniel 2 is being fulfilled. The statue that represents all of man’s kingdoms is  crumbling while the little stone that represents the kingdom of God is growing into a mountain or government, and it will keep growing until it fills the whole earth.
