I am writing to those who I think will be among the greatest Christians to ever live—those who have lived in the last days of this age. As the Lord said, “the last shall be first” (see Mark 9:35), He has again saved His best wine for last—for those who live at the end of this age will be the best of all time. They will walk in the greatest glory and do the greatest works. There is no reason why any who are reading this cannot be part of the greatest spiritual force the world has ever seen.
My prophetic friend, Bob Jones, had a spiritual experience each year that he referred to as “going under the Shepherd’s rod.” Some years he would receive very specific words about coming world events that would always prove accurate. Near the end of his life in his “Shepherd’s Rod” experience, he had a vision of me and him coming before the Lord to receive gifts. My gifts were Babe Ruth candy bars. When I asked Bob what this meant, he replied, “Babe Ruth was a heavy hitter who changed the game. The ones the Lord is bringing to you will be the heavy hitters who change the game.” He then said with a smile, “Those Babe Ruth candy bars are also full of nuts.”
In 1971, when I was a new Christian, the Lord began to show me a great company that would come in the last days of this age and walk in unprecedented power and authority. In the forty plus years since that time, He has continued to show me many things about these awesome people who would walk the earth at the end of this age. The Scriptures are full of references to them, and throughout the church age, some have understood them and written of them. I am not claiming to be one of them. However, I was told that I would not just write and speak about them, but to them. That’s why I think you could be one of the greatest Christians to ever live.
The greatest Christian life will not be marked so much by what we do, as what we become. The greatest Christian is the one who loves God the most. The one who loves God the most will also love people more than anything else. For this reason, loving God and growing in our love for Him must always be our main devotion. That will be our main devotion for the coming year—growing in our love for God. The next devotion will be growing in our love for people, and then growing in our understanding of our purpose in these times.
until we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,
but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head, Christ,
from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love (Ephesians 4:13-16 NKJV).
