In the previous Word for the Week, I began discussing a series of dreams I’ve had recently about the coming harvest. They were warnings about how near the harvest is and how unprepared the body of Christ is for it. Even so, we must now turn to the Lord, for Whom nothing is impossible, as we are about to be in way over our heads with this. We cannot just continue in “business as usual.” Feeling this urgency, I made a temporary pivot from the study of Daniel and Revelation for WFTW to seek a current word that can help us to prepare for what will soon be upon us.
As a reminder, in the first of these dreams on the harvest, revival broke out very unexpectedly, and in an unexpected place: a Sunday school room of a denominational church. The people drawn to this could not be contained in that setting for even one week.
In the second dream, I was sitting with a group of de facto leaders of the revival. It seemed in the dream that this was just a week after the breakout, but word of this had seemingly spread to the whole earth. People had come from all over to experience the revival. Hotels and motels were filled for miles around. To accommodate the number of people, we had rented the largest meeting facility in the city. It was so massive I thought we could fly an airplane around in it. It seated thousands, and we did not expect to be able to fill it, but even before our first meeting in it, it was obviously too small.
The first meeting had filled the building in minutes, and there were multitudes standing outside unable to get in. I was sitting with these “leaders” who were debating what to do about this. We sat knowing we were way over our heads and were praying for the Lord who upholds the universe with His word to help us. Then, someone came in with an invitation from the nation of Hungary for a few of us to go there and share about what was happening with us.
Even though we did not really understand what was happening, I knew we had to take this invitation. I felt strongly that there was a hunger for God in Hungary that had gotten the Lord’s attention. I knew this hunger would overflow Hungary, spread to the rest of Eastern Europe, and then to the rest of Europe. They were going to quickly be in the same predicament we were in, and we needed to help them, or get help from them.
I woke from this dream knowing it was a prophetic warning. A few days later, I was told that some people in Hungary had heard about this dream and were coming to ask me to speak at an event there. I felt that what I saw in these men would somehow represent the spiritual condition of Hungary, so I was eager to meet them. I was not disappointed. They were mature believers with a hunger for God that was deep and mature. Perhaps they were being sent to help us. Even so, I knew it was not quite time for me to go there. I agreed to inquire of the Lord about 2027, and they were OK with this.
Even though I am confident that these dreams are prophetic, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are to be taken too literally. For example, this revival may not begin in a literal Sunday school class like the first dream, but this could indicate that it will begin in the more traditional church. When I think of Sunday schools, I think of those who are so hungry they must have more than they are given in a typical church service. I think that the nation of Hungary also speaks of the spiritually hungry. It may also have a major part in sparking revival in Europe.
I woke from both of these dreams with a strong sense that we would see this begin by the end of next year, 2027. When I sat down to write this WFTW, I was given a key to carry in our hearts as we proceed. It is this: “Humility is sanity. God is holy, His work is holy, and those who do His work must be holy.”
We can expect the Holy Spirit to have been moving to sanctify those called to this work. We can expect it to begin with the fear of the Lord as the beginning of wisdom, which will lead to our love for Him, which is the highest wisdom. This is the repentance that leads to sanctification in Him.
