The Free Market thrives on freedom. The more it has the better it does. People thrive in freedom. The more freedom people have, the better they do, and the happier and more productive they become, a fact to which history is an overwhelming witness. Mankind was created to be free, and as we are told in II Corinthians 3:17, “where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

Marxism is the antithesis of freedom, and the source of the greatest oppression and slavery mankind has ever experienced. Under Marxism, the state is god and dictates everything everyone does. You go to school where the state tells you, study what they tell you to study, work at the job they tell you to, live where you are allowed to live, and can only have relationships you are allowed to have. It actually gets even worse than this, as the state tells you where you are allowed to go, what you are allowed to say, and even what you are allowed to think. Any deviation from what is allowed brings swift punishment, and even torture and execution.

This is the history of Marxism—it turns every nation it takes over into a virtual prison where there is hardly anything the people can do without getting permission from an authority. This is why the Soviet Union had to put up “The Iron Curtain,” which was actually a prison wall to keep the people from escaping to freedom. The desire to get out was so great that multitudes gave their lives trying to escape.

Even a cursory study of Marxist states shows how Marxism is the opposite of the utopia their propaganda claims they will be. Marxism is the worst totalitarian tyranny the world has ever known. So how does each new generation get drawn to it? It proves that “those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it,” and so the naïve and idealistic continue to believe the lies of Marxist propaganda.

In the late 19th century, before Marxism had actually taken over a country to run a government, it was the rave in intellectual circles. Even some of the most successful capitalists such as Carnegie and Nelson Rockefeller gave huge sums to support and teach Marxism. When the Bolsheviks took over Russia in 1917 and the true nature of Marxism was exposed, the world was horrified, and it quickly became very unpopular. As it seemed destined to crumble and disappear, it was shored up by two unexpected allies—Freud and Darwin.

Marxism is basically about destroying the foundations of society in order to remake mankind into what Marx and his followers think it should be. Sigmund Freud likewise sought to do the same in his own way. He taught that mental problems from depression to the most extreme insanity were the result of the oppression and subsequent sense of guilt that was the result of an archaic paternal society, as well as religion with its cruel and unnatural morality.

Darwin, whose theory of evolution was gaining popularity at the time, taught that men were just evolved beasts and fundamentally attacked the belief that we were created by a Creator, God. So, Darwinists believed that just as man had evolved from other primitive beliefs, we would continue to evolve from belief in God until we acknowledge that we are our own god.

In Ecclesiastes 4:12 we are told, “If one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.” The philosophies of Marx, Freud, and Darwin were like the devil’s three cord strand to bind mankind with what would be very hard to break. To do this, all three of them attacked the three most basic pillars of true freedom and stability in society: the belief in God, Judeo-Christian based morality, and devotion to family. Around these the final battle lines of freedom vs. slavery and light vs. darkness have pivoted ever since.

History reveals with absolute certainty that the economic and political liberation promised by Marx, and the liberation of the soul and mind promised by Freud, actually resulted in the opposite of what they promised. So, how do these get away with continuing to promote their madness with such a dismal track record? A force of revisionist historians was sent into the media and education systems of the west with what proved to be a brilliant and successful strategy. They gradually made the good in our history appear evil, and the evil appear good. They even revised the actual events of history to fit their political and social agendas, and very few protested or challenged them.

Darwin created an easy road for Freudian psychology, and Freudian psychology created an easy road for Marxism. Marx stated that his main purpose was to “dethrone God” to destroy the free market, and then freedom itself. Marx’s concept of freedom was a freedom from religion and morality, and for everyone to conform to his concept of what people should be like. To accomplish this, Marx sought to focus all human allegiance on the state as their god in place of God. Right and wrong would be what the state said they were.

Marx also taught that the destruction of the nuclear family was essential for the ultimate evolution of humanity. In Marx’s “utopia” nothing could rival the state as having the supreme allegiance of the people, and next to God the nuclear family was the biggest threat to this. So, a strategy was devised for separating children from their parents at a young age as wards of the state first and then as property of the state.

Some of the teachings of Freud made authority figures and even parents as suspects of abuse. This premise was used to justify the break-up of the family. To fortify this, Marxist authorities began giving awards and rewards to children who turned in their parents for even suspected thoughts or actions that were contrary to government policy or dogma. The children who turned in their parents, or other family members, were made heroes, while their parents were severely punished. This system made it almost impossible for anyone to trust anyone else, even the members of their own families, further tightening the control of the state over the hearts and minds of the people.

Fear and intimidation are the two most powerful tools used by Marxists to destroy nations, cultures, and people groups. But there is a weapon far more powerful than fear—and that is the truth that can set people free. As the truth of the true nature of Marxism becomes known, the terrible darkness that it is will retreat again, but it will slip in again if we do not recover the truth of history and teach it again with integrity to our children as Scripture commands.

The history of liberty is a history of resistance. The history of liberty is a history of the limitation of government power, not the increase of it. When we resist the concentration of power we are resisting the powers of death. Concentration of power precedes the destruction of human liberties. ~President Woodrow Wilson

It should be your care, therefore, and mine, to elevate the minds of our children and exalt their courage; to accelerate and animate their industry and activity; to excite in them in habitual contempt of meanness, abhorrence of injustice and inhumanity, and an ambition to excel in every capacity, faculty, and virtue. If we suffer their minds to grovel and creep in infancy, they will grovel all their lives. ~ President John Adams
