As we have been covering, the America’s Values Study has revealed a turn back to traditional, conservative moral values by an increasing majority of Americans. The study has further revealed this has not resulted in a turning back to traditional churches or to the Republican Party. Why? The short answer is, both institutions have lost the trust of the American people.

Both major political parties in America are losing members, as is true for nearly everything viewed as “establishment.” This is not a bad thing but rather a great opportunity. As we are exhorted in Hebrews 13:12-13, “Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate. So, let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach.”

Why did Jesus never become part of the “camp” or any institution, and why are we instructed here in Hebrews to follow His example? The overwhelming evidence of history suggests that any time a belief became institutionalized, it also became corrupt.

Yes, we can argue all day about the good works religious institutions do today, and we can argue all day about the good works the Pharisees and Sadducees did in the New Testament as a precept for membership. However, we can also argue how their entire nation was lost after rejecting and resisting their Messiah. Likewise, we are warned in Hebrews to go to Jesus “outside the camp.” George Washington also spoke against political parties, warning they could be the doom of our republic.

Washington argued that we should debate all issues as Americans, and that political parties would only divide the nation and eventually elevate their own interests and desires for power above the interests of the people and the nation. That the American people are now resisting political and religious institutions and “the establishment” in all its forms is a good thing. Something far more authentic is coming, and the Lord is preparing the people for it.

As shared, the America’s Values Study commissioned by Marc Nuttle was so deep and broad it would take months or years to fully unpack. Since I am a part of a team doing this, I will share with you its most important findings. The main one I see is that America’s Third Great Awakening has begun and is gaining serious traction. Just as Jesus said the kingdom would come “without outward signs to be observed” (see Luke 17:20), it is coming deep in the hearts of people who may not yet be showing outward signs, as we would expect. Still, this indicates these changes are so deep, the results will also be far deeper.

Religious institutions in America have been bleeding members faster than political parties. Many factors illuminated by Marc’s study reveal why, and we will discuss these. Those with traditional or institutional mentalities cannot see the real issues or solutions. Seeing solutions is not a problem until or unless you’re married to an institution or establishment. Seeing requires a basic understanding of how the laws of political physics have changed, so a whole new breed of leaders will be required to lead us into the future. This is better than good. This is the kind of heart revolution that could enable America to fulfill what we declared as our purpose in the Declaration of Independence. More importantly, it could help enable the body of Christ to become what it is called to be.

In a dream I had in 2018 in which I was shown “The Second American Revolution/Civil War,” the force that ended up prevailing and leading America into the future was not a political party but a “third column.” It was a movement that had resisted institutionalizing, had a clear and decisive message, and had earned the following of a diverse spectrum of our society.
