Jun25WEEK26In 2008 we began to pray for the Holy Spirit to move in our country. We prayed for the Spirit of Truth to reveal anything hidden that we needed to know. This began happening very quickly. Some might protest that much of what is being illuminated is coming from whistleblowers in the government, but this gives us insight into the work of the Holy Spirit. There were times in the Old Testament when the Lord referred to heathen armies such as the Babylonians as His arm. The Babylonians did not know the Lord, nor did they know that...

Jun18WEEK25
We are continuing to address what it means to be a “disciple of the kingdom of heaven,” and we have begun to discuss the high calling. We have been doing this from the remarkable discourse of the Apostle Paul in Philippians Three. There are a number of profound insights in this text that highlight what the life of a disciple of the kingdom of heaven looks like.
First, they put no confidence in the flesh. If anyone had an occasion to put confidence in the flesh, Paul did. However, to him, and to everyone who grasps what it...

Jun11WEEK24
We have been discussing how the Apostle Paul became a disciple of the kingdom of heaven. He gave a remarkable explanation of this in Philippians 3:10-14:

Jun04WEEK23
The Apostle Paul knew as much as anyone in history about how learning from the wrong perspective leads to error. Being in conflict with the truth led him to persecute the Lord Himself by persecuting His people. Because of this, he gave possibly the greatest discourse ever written of what leads to truth in Colossians 1:9-20:
For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, ...

May28WEEK22
Some become disciples of other men; some become disciples of a certain movement, denomination, or doctrinal emphasis. In the verse we have been studying about the scribes who become disciples, Jesus specified that these would become disciples of “the kingdom of heaven” (see Matthew 13:52). He was obviously emphasizing that they were not to become disciples of those on earth, or earthly things, but of His heavenly kingdom.
The Apostle Paul is a good example of a disciple of the kingdom of heaven. He was one of the most learned men of his times. He had been a...
