    The Instruction of the Lord
    by Rick Joyner

This week we continue our study with Ephesians 6:4:

And, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger; but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

It is noteworthy that this exhortation is to fathers instead of mothers. It is not always the case, but usually fathers are the strict disciplinarians. Mothers tend to be more nurturing and prone to mercy. Fathers can be more prone to anger, which can cause them to carry discipline too far. Discipline not carried far enough as

    The Beginning of Honor
    by Rick Joyner

We continue our study this week with Ephesians 6:2-3:

Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise),

that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth.”

Last week our verse stated that children are to obey their parents “in the Lord” (Ephesians 6:1). This

    by Rick Joyner

Our text for this week in Ephesians 6:1 continues the emphasis on family relationships.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

This exhortation for children to obey their parents is for one reason—it is right. This one thing—children learning to obey their parents is one of the most important factors in teaching a child to discern right from wrong. Why is this? As the prophecies of Scripture make clear, one of the greatest evils to come upon the earth in the last days

    Nevertheless
    by Rick Joyner

Our verse for this week is Ephesians 5:33, “Nevertheless let each individual among you also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see to it that she respect her husband.”
The first word in this verse is important: “nevertheless.” In modern English it comes across as an expression of resignation, but this was not the case originally. It was formed from combining the three words: NEVER-THE-LESS, and was a powerful exhortation to not choose the way which leads to “less.” This is obviously the way the apostle meant it here....

    Leave, Cleave, and Become
    by Rick Joyner

Our verse for this week is Ephesians 5:31:

For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh.

It is well known that one of the biggest problems in marriage can come from the in-laws, but they can also be a great blessing. Even so, I have never known in-laws who were causing major problems in a son or daughter’s marriage that were not sincerely trying to help, thought they were helping, and
