Sep14WEEK37
Elizabeth Browning once said, “Earth is crammed with heaven, and every bush is aflame with the fire of God, but only those who see take off their shoes. The rest just pick the berries.” As we begin to mature in Christ, we begin to see Him in all things. We see Him in creation because “all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:16-17). As the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 1:20, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine...

Sep07WEEK36
We could marvel at the creation forever. Its diversity in the multitudes of species of plants and animals are nearly incomprehensible. Still, there are multitudes that yet remain undiscovered. How they all interact with the earth and each other is a source of continuous discovery and amazement. We now know the planets, stars, and galaxies have an interaction with the earth from billions of light years away that was necessary to begin the earth’s food chain!
As we are told in Scripture, all of this is but a “shadow” of the...

Aug31WEEK35
To know the Lord’s voice, we must know Him. One of the crucial characteristics that He has is that He is “gentle and humble of heart” (see Matthew 11:29). If anyone ever had a right to be proud, it would be Him, but He is not.
Jesus is more than the King of all; He is the Creator of all as verified in John 1 and Colossians 1:15-20. We hardly qualify as specks of dust before Him, but He allows us to entreat Him. As we see in several biblical accounts, He has...

Aug24WEEK34
As we are seeking to mature in Christ, and to know His voice so well that we can quickly and instantly distinguish it, we will consider the statements in Scripture that define maturity in Him, such as Ephesians 4:13, “until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.”
Do you know anyone who has attained to “the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ”? I...

Aug17WEEK33
As we seek to know the Lord’s voice so well that we can distinguish it from any others, we must understand that He rarely speaks in an audible voice. However, just as the Apostle Paul prayed that “the eyes of your hearts may be opened” (see Ephesians 1:18), indicating that these eyes are not our physical ones, but spiritual, so we also have ears of the heart, or spirit.
So, how do we learn to know when God is speaking to the ears of our heart and be able to distinguish it from other voices, even our...
